About
Brass Portal is a sculptural object created from aged brass and integrated mirrors.
The work begins with a material that already carries the marks of time. Rather than restoring it to its original state, the artist interrupts its surface with mirrors, creating a new relationship between the old material, the surrounding space and the viewer.
The mirror does not simply reflect. It fragments, redirects and alters what is seen. As the viewer moves, the object changes with them — revealing different fragments of the body, the room and the space beyond.
The portal is therefore not a passage to another physical place, but a shift in perception: a moment when the familiar becomes slightly unfamiliar.
Brass Portal explores the space between memory and presence, object and reflection, past and what is yet to come. It does not show another world. It changes the way you see this one.
